Marks on Roman Bronzes

Roman coins often use letters and Roman numerals, though occasionally symbols are used as well. These symbols may refer to the officina (workshop at a given mint - officina mark) the coin was produced by, may refer to a particular production run of a coin series (series mark) or may mean something as yet unknown. These marks are usually in the exergue, but can also appear on other parts of the coin, such as in the reverse field. The coins below illustrate some of these marks and where they appear on the coin.
